CASE STUDY
Website Strategy & Copywriting: Champion Mentors
Helping an NDIS provider find a voice as warm as the people behind it.
The brief
Champion Mentors wanted to speak to participants and families in plain English without losing professionalism. The existing messaging relied heavily on NDIS terminology and generic support-worker language, making it difficult for visitors to quickly understand what made the organisation different.
The challenge
The existing website explained what Champion Mentors did, but not why families should choose them. It relied heavily on service descriptions and industry terminology, making it difficult for visitors to quickly understand the organisation’s personality, values and approach.
Unfortunately, Champion Mentors is no longer operating, so the live website isn’t available to explore. Fortunately, I kept copies of the work, which allows me to share the thinking, messaging and copy that sat behind the project.
- Stakeholder interviews
- Brand messaging
- Website architecture
- Homepage copy
- Service pages
- SEO optimisation
- Calls to action
- Tone of voice guidance
The strategy
Great copy starts long before the first headline. Before writing a single word, I worked with Champion Mentors to understand their audience, personality and point of difference. Those insights shaped every messaging and structural decision that followed.
Audience
Participants, families, support coordinators and prospective employees all had different questions. The website needed to help each audience quickly find themselves without overwhelming them.
Positioning
Rather than presenting Champion Mentors as another NDIS provider, we positioned them as people who help participants live fuller, more independent lives through meaningful experiences.
Voice
Warm, optimistic and encouraging. Friendly enough to feel human, while remaining professional enough to build confidence with families.
Website architecture
Content was reorganised around the participant journey rather than internal service categories, making it easier to understand what Champion Mentors offered and where to go next.
Before & after: Homepage
Key takeaway
The homepage was restructured around the participant journey rather than the organisation itself. By leading with aspirations, reinforcing trust early and creating clear pathways for different audiences, the website immediately communicates both purpose and personality.
Before & after: Services page
Key takeaway
A service page shouldn’t feel like a catalogue. By organising information around participant needs and explaining the ‘why’ before the ‘what’, the content becomes clearer, warmer and much easier to act on.

Key takeaway
In a sector where many organisations sound rather similar, a distinctive voice becomes a point of difference. The new messaging balances warmth with professionalism, helping Champion Mentors feel less like a service provider and more like a trusted partner.
The outcome
- Stronger brand personality.
- Clearer messaging.
- Better user journeys.
- Improved visibility and enquiries.
Final takeaway
In the disability sector, people aren’t just choosing a provider – they’re choosing who to trust with an important part of their lives. By shifting the focus from services to aspirations, Champion Mentors became easier to understand, easier to connect with and easier to remember.
“The impact of her work was evident almost immediately. Since implementing the new copy on our website, I have seen a significant increase in traffic and engagement.
